You are here
I believe that if you really want something badly enough, you can make it happen. It seems like only yesterday when I saw photos of myself and was horrified by my weight. I’ve struggled with weight control my whole life and mostly under the glare of the media spotlight. It broke my heart when people called me names. I decided once and for all it was time for a change.
A huge part of my transformation came the day a friend introduced me to the Fusion Xcelerator. I had already embarked on a diet and exercise program; only now I learned that I could get all of the nutrients my body needs in one convenient process that changed my life forever.
Now, here I am a short time later having lost 55 pounds without regaining an ounce by following the simplest of solutions: good nutrition, proper exercise, and discovering the many benefits of emulsifying foods with the Fusion Xcelerator.
One of my missions in life now is to help people fight their weight challenges so they can live longer, healthier and happier lives. Take it from me: you can do it!
Let’s Make a Difference Together.
The problem of obesity and being overweight is a global epidemic. Obesity has doubled inside 25 years and millions suffer from serious and even life-threatening conditions, from diabetes to heart disease and even cancer.
But it’s a preventable problem.
I am neither a scientist nor a politician, but I know about obesity and being overweight from personal experience.
I understand how hard it is to get help, and how hard it is to change your lifestyle to combat the problem. With support and the understanding that I had to change my behavior, I managed to take my life in a different direction. And now I want to help others do the same thing.
Some Worrying Facts
For the first time in history children now have a shorter life expectancy than their parents. In fact, in the U.S. over one third of children are overweight or obese – these figures have doubled for children and tripled for adolescents in the last 30 years.
In studies 80% of overweight 10 to 15 year olds were obese by 25. In 2013 over 42 million children under five were obese.
Unless this trend is reversed it’s possible that one third of all children born since 2000 will suffer from diabetes during their lives as well as run the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer and asthma.
The economic consequences are also staggering, with $190 billion a year being spent in the U.S. alone to treat obesity-related health conditions. America’s businesses bear a lot of this cost.
My Own Battle
I have a personal connection with this issue. I’ve struggled with my weight for much of my life and I’ve been a comfort-eater since adolescence. I’ve misused food, but I never really understood that until adulthood, when I began my decade-long work with Weight Watchers.
That experience pulled my secretive binge-eating behavior out of the closet and helped me understand how it was affecting my physical health, but it was not until meeting with Lord Darzi last year that I fully realized that the solution lay in behavioral change.
So when I discovered the Fusion Xcelerator and started emulsifying healthy natural fruits and vegetables then combined it with a daily exercise routine I was finally able to turn my life around. I learned how to become healthier and fitter – which has in turn not only helped me lose over 55 pounds, but also helped me keep it off.
I am getting so much more out of life.
I know we can beat this problem. We can help people change their lives.
I’ve always been driven to help people, and by working with charities I’ve been able to use my own experiences as an example and genuinely make a difference. Becoming an Ambassador for the Institute for Global Health Innovation and working with Lord Darzi has opened my eyes to the dangers facing people and the opportunities we have to help them make genuine changes.
It is all about finding solutions for behavioral change, getting people to rethink how and what they eat. So now I want to expose the human side of the obesity crisis. I want to educate people about the simple strategies and solutions for losing weight and staying healthy.
Because the fact is that each of us can beat obesity by choosing healthy eating and lifestyle habits. We just need help and support to make the changes – and to stick to them.
I want to inspire people to choose a healthy lifestyle and enjoy being a healthy weight.
And there’s already good news,
Recent data suggests real progress is already being made. In the U.S. child obesity (especially among 2 to 5 year-olds) is slowing – a vital figure as this is the age when eating and lifestyle behaviors are learned.
But this is just the start. We need to change behavior by showing people that they really do have options and by giving them hope and support.
When I wanted to protect my daughters from the weight problems I had suffered, I taught them the value of healthy living early on. Now, as adults, those healthy habits are automatic. And because I’ve faced obesity head on, I know how difficult it is to break out.
So as a mother I can speak to young mothers about the importance of healthy habits – and how to teach them to their children.
As someone who has battled this problem I can show people what they can do and give them the support to achieve their goals.
As an ambassador and spokesperson for charities, institutes and businesses I can use my position to highlight the real problems and risks people face, as well as support the ideas, activities and programs that can help people make real changes to their lives.
From talking to people about the problem to supporting programs and products that can have a genuine impact, from supporting pioneering new ideas to helping governments with health care policies, I want to make a difference.
I launched the Duchess Discoveries initiative to highlight exciting new innovations designed to improve our lives, starting with solutions to defeat the global obesity problem.
By supporting projects that actively help people control their weight there is also an even bigger benefit – Duchess Discoveries have already pledged hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity to help towards solving this problem.
This includes PACT, the Prince Andrew Charitable Trust. PACT is committed to supporting new technological and scientific research and developments in the digital age, which find solutions to global problems. This kind of work is already having an enormous impact on people’s lives.
Supporting solutions, publicity and research.
I want to support ideas that can be forces for good and for change. I want to highlight the problem, publicize solutions and also help people find new answers, as well as making sure that business can make a guaranteed contribution to our cause.
By addressing this problem from every angle, I know that we can make a real difference.
